Accommodation

These are run by the CROUS organization and offer different types of accommodation at reasonable rates on all UCA campuses: rooms, studio apartments, apartments… Such accommodation is made on a selective basis and is allocated depending on student resources.
 

• Some rooms are set aside for foreign exchange students and are allocated by the International Office (see “Study at UCA as an exchange student”).
• For students who are not on an exchange programme, a joint surety guarantee will be demanded. This is a document whereby a person living in France agrees to pay any unpaid rent.

VISALE is a no-cost solution to the problem of student security deposits. With VISALE, students find housing more quickly and property owners are assured that rent will be paid.

The "Caisse d’Allocations Familiales"(C.A.F.) gives financial aid for housing. This aid starts after the second month’s rent. You need to apply online here: http://www.caf.fr.

You will need to supply a copy of your birth certificate translated into French. Translations may be done by firms such as Melting Trad or Alphatrad.

You must also take out insurance for the duration of your apartment rental (fire, water damage, theft, etc.). The student insurance companies (SMERRA) offer contracts at attractive rates.

If you rent a private apartment, on January 1 and you have a television, you have to pay a tv licence fee : the annual cost is 138€.
