University diplomas in French Studies (DUEF)

These are French language classes held throughout the academic year.

There are two semesters per academic year and students attend an average of 20 hours of French per week : classes, laboratory, conversation, cultural activities...)
  • When? From September to December (semester 1) or from February to June (semester 2)
  • How many hours? 16 to 20 hours per weeks
  • Which levels?  European levels (A1-C1)

Semester organisation

Upon arrival, a language placement test will determine your level. This is comprised of a written test and a discussion with a teacher.

At the end of the semester, you will sit an examination (university diploma in French studies). If successful, you will be able to gain admission into higher education and in certain cases, to studies at Université Clermont Auvergne.


Université Clermont Auvergne is located in the Auvergne region, right in the centre of France.

Classes are at the Language and Multimedia Centre (CLM) on campus in Clermont Ferrand (at the corner of Paul collomp street and D'amboise street).

Tuition fees 2020/2021

1 550 euros per semester per level.

Attention, no reimbursements will be made once classes for the semester have started.

Registration procedure

Step 1: online pre-registration (Only for foreign students who need to apply for a student VISA)

Step 2: Administrative registration

Administrative registration will take place from August 25 to September 3, 2020 by appointment at the reception.
Opening hours: from Monday to Friday, from 9h to 12h and from 13h30 to 17h.

ERASMUS students only

  • 5 hours per week of advanced French language are available free of charge to Erasmus students during their stay at UCA.
  • Preferential fees are available for additional classes.
