The University Diploma in French Studies  (Diplôme Universitaire d'Études Françaises - DUEF) is designed for students who do not speak French and who wish to pursue higher education in France. The main objective of this programme is to help students acquire the linguistic, cultural, and academic skills necessary for successful university studies.

Our courses are adapted to each student's level of French, in accordance with the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) :
 

DUEF A1 A2 B1 B2 C1



Depending on their level and in addition to language and cultural courses, each programme includes:
     •     Introduction to French academic methodology
     •     French for specific purposes 
     •     Introduction to reasoning and argumentation

Thanks to an intensive weekly course schedule and enhanced academic support, students make fast progress.



At the end of the semester, provided that the programme is successfully completed (minimum overall average grade of 10/20), students are awarded the diploma corresponding to their level and may progress to the next level.

The minimum French language requirement for degree programmes at Université Clermont Auvergne (UCA) is B2. For programmes in the humanities and social sciences, a C1 level is strongly recommended. Students are encouraged to contact the academic office of their intended programme to confirm the language requirements.
