L’alimentation est un déterminant majeur de la santé et du bien-être. C’est Pourquoi les travaux de l’UNH visent à prévenir les désordres associés au vieillissement et/ou aux maladies chroniques (sarcopénie, ostéoporose, syndrome métabolique, athérosclérose). Pour relever ce défi sociétal majeur, l’UNH développe une approche innovante, intégrant la notion de complexité, tant sur le plan physiologique et métabolique que nutritionnel. L’objectif est de déterminer l’impact des comportements alimentaires et la fonctionnalité des aliments (ou des nutriments qui les composent) dans différentes situations physiopathologiques fréquemment associées au vieillissement et/ou aux maladies chroniques (inflammation, stress oxydant, stress métabolique, lipotoxicité, insulinorésistance dysfonction vasculaire, dérégulations hormonales…), de manière à prévenir
le déclin des grandes fonctions de l’organisme et des pathologies ciblées.
L’identification de biomarqueurs précoces d’exposition ou du statut Physiologique constitue une priorité pour des approches prédictives.
De telles connaissances sont effectivement essentielles à l’établissement des recommandations nutritionnelles préventives.

Diet is a major determinant of health and wellbeing. That is why UNH works to prevent disorders associated with aging and/or chronic diseases (sarcopenia, osteoporosis, metabolic syndrome, atherosclerosis). To address this major societal challenge, UNH is developing an innovative approach that integrates the concept of complexity at the physiological and metabolic as well as nutritional levels. The goal is to determine the impact of eating behaviors and the functionality of food (or the nutrients that comprise them) in different pathophysiological situations that are frequently associated with aging and/or chronic diseases (inflammation, oxidative stress, metabolic stress, lipotoxicity, insulin resistance, vascular dysfunction, hormonal dysregulation, etc.) so as to prevent the decline of major bodily functions and targeted diseases.

The identification of early biomarkers of exposure or of the physiological status is a priority for predictive approaches.

Such knowledge is essential to establishing preventive nutrition recommendations.
