Introduction

The Civil Engineering Department aims to train engineers capable of managing building and public works projects, leading teams, and overseeing operations in compliance with legal regulations, safety standards, and sustainable development principles, in both local and international contexts.

Training as a civil engineer requires a strong theoretical foundation in core sciences such as mathematics, statistics and probability, mechanics, physics, and numerical analysis. It also involves a more technological approach with applied disciplines such as reinforced concrete, steel construction, geotechnics, site organization and management, general construction processes, and even architecture.

However, training future construction industry professionals would be incomplete without including subjects like law, economics, and communication techniques. One of the program’s core goals is to remain multidisciplinary by not favoring any specific sector of the construction industry.

Program

Les informations ci-dessous sont données à titre indicatif et peuvent faire l'objet de mises à jour.

Professional Training Contract
Professional training contracts are available to final-year engineering students.

Students enrolled in the initial training program change their status and become employees of the host company. The duration of the contract is 12 months.

A win-win approach
For students, the goal of the professional training contract is to gain a professional qualification while completing their engineering degree. Participants are paid a percentage of the minimum wage (Smic), depending on their age and education level. For details on salary rates, please refer to the official Ministry website.

For companies, this contract provides access to an engineer who is quickly operational and trained in their specific processes. In some cases, the contract also allows partial exemption from employer social security contributions.

Eligibility
The professional training contract is open to:

* Polytech Clermont students aged 16 to 25 who are admitted into the final year of the engineering cycle
* All employers subject to funding continuing vocational training, except for the State, local authorities, and their public administrative institutions

Students with disabilities who wish to sign a professional training contract are offered tailored support. More information is available \[HERE].

Assessment
The program includes two mid-term presentations, a written report, and a final oral defense.
In addition, students are assessed continuously through coursework set by instructors.
It is not possible to validate individual skill blocks separately.

Funding
Training costs, covered by the host company, include tuition and administrative fees at Polytech Clermont. All or part of these costs may be covered by the **Skills Operator (OPCO)** associated with the company.
